Abe Herrera, President of The Childrenās Health Place is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 37 years of experience in the industry. Abe began his career as a Combat Medic in the United States Army. The U.S. Army and Army National Guard provided several opportunities including attending Radiological Technologist course, Practical Nurse Course, Logistics and multiple leadership courses. Throughout his career, Abe traveled across the continental United States and abroad training and mentoring new leaders within the ranks of the U.S. Army and allied forces. Abe culminated his career as a Commandant of a Noncommissioned Officer Leadership Academy and Task Force Command Sergeant Major of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. After 21 years of service Abe, decided to return to the private sector full time and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Simultaneously, Abe worked as a Practical Nurse in acute, pediatric and long-term care throughout the United States. After returning to Colorado, Abe began working with Dr. Dubynsky at what is now The Childrenās Health Place. Throughout his healthcare profession, Abe held multiple leadership or training positions such as the Staff Development Coordinator of two long-term care facilities, Director of Safety and Risk Management and Health Services Administrator trainer of county correctional facilities within the western United States.
Abe received his Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and returned to The Childrenās Health Place as a Special Project Consultant. As the special projects came to fruition, Abe was asked to stay on as the Practice Manager. Fast forward to 2019, Abe became President of Aggie Pediatrics, LLC dba The Childrenās Health Place and oversees all operations. The new role allows Abe the opportunity to participate in multiple advisory councils including the Childrenās Hospital of Colorado, Care Management program and others. Abe has a passion for customer service, exceptional healthcare delivery and mentoring families and staff.
Abe lives in Johnstown, loves the outdoors and has one adult daughter.
