Every day we wake up to more and more information about COVID-19. Some of it we hear from our local news sources or maybe even some podcasts, but a lot of it comes from various social media outlets. So how do we separate whatâs true and whatâs false? You hear a lot of âDo your own research,â but where do you begin and how do you know if youâre using reliable sources? Well, weâre hoping you can rely on the medical professionals in our office to provide the most up-to-date information on the coronavirus. Here we will address common âmythsâ or rumors about Covid-19 as it pertains to your familyâs health.
True or False? âChildren donât need to wear masks because they donât get as sick with COVIDâ

- Children need to wear masks to protect themselves and their families.
- Children are getting sick from COVID especially the more contagious delta variant â in August 2021 25.7% of all positive COVID cases are in children 0-18 years old.
- 544 children ages 0-18 years have died from COVID, since the onset of the pandemic
- Over 4,000 children have developed the serious post COVID condition called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) where different body parts can become inflamed such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin and eyes.
True or False? âI tested positive for COVID but my kids and husband have not been tested. The rest of the family are not experiencing symptoms. I should be able to send my kids to school, right?!â

- You may receive the COVID vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson) as soon as 10 days after a positive COVID test
- Unless, you were hospitalized with COVID and were given an IV treatment of monoclonal antibodies. Then you would need to wait 90 days
